About

⚠️ CONTENT WARNING: This forum will include discussion of miscarriage, pregnancy loss, baby loss, fertility challenges and returning to work following loss. Please take care of yourself and join only if you feel comfortable doing so.

What would you say if a colleague told you they had lost their baby?

Most of us have never been taught what to say or do in that moment. And when the moment comes, it can feel too late to start learning.

Pregnancy, fertility challenges, pregnancy loss and returning to work can have a profound impact on working parents — yet these experiences can remain difficult to talk about in the workplace. The emotional, physical and professional impact isn't always visible, and colleagues, managers and organisations don't always know how best to respond.

That's why this conversation is for everyone.

Whether you have personal experience of fertility challenges, pregnancy or baby loss, work in HR or People, manage a team, lead an organisation, or simply want to be a more supportive colleague, this forum is an opportunity to build understanding and confidence before you need it.

Join us for our upcoming Working Parents' Forum, Pregnancy, Loss & Work: A Conversation Everyone Should Be Ready For, for an open and compassionate conversation about how we can create workplaces where people feel supported through these significant life experiences.

Together, we'll explore what meaningful support can look like in practice — from navigating difficult conversations and returning to work, to psychological safety, compassionate leadership and the role we all play in creating more supportive workplace cultures.

Making a difference now

Make a difference now
You may have seen Aching Arms' Miles in Memory campaign this October — an opportunity to walk, jog, run, cycle or swim in memory of a baby special to you, while helping Aching Arms provide comfort and support to bereaved families across the UK.

👉 Find out more about Miles in Memory

Miles in Memory is about making a difference now. This forum is about learning how we can make a difference when someone needs us.

The session will feature Leanne Turner, Founder & CEO of award-winning baby loss charity Aching Arms, who will share her personal story, the story behind Aching Arms and her experience and insights into supporting families and returning to work following baby loss.

The conversation will be chaired by Donna Wayman, who will facilitate this relaxed and conversational forum, bringing members together to share perspectives, learn from one another and explore what compassionate support can look like in practice.

What we'll explore:

  • What to say — and what not to say — when a colleague experiences pregnancy or baby loss
  • The realities of pregnancy, fertility challenges and pregnancy loss in the workplace
  • Returning to work following miscarriage, baby loss or parental leave
  • The role of managers, colleagues, HR and leaders in providing meaningful support
  • Creating psychologically safe and compassionate workplace cultures
  • Practical workplace support, adjustments and approaches that can make a difference
  • How we can all become more confident in supporting others through difficult experiences
  • Shared experiences, insights and approaches from attendees

Who should attend?

Everyone.

This conversation isn't only for people who have experienced pregnancy, fertility challenges or baby loss themselves. It's also for:

  • Working parents and parents-to-be
  • Managers and people leaders
  • HR and People professionals
  • Colleagues who want to better support others
  • Leaders looking to create more compassionate and inclusive workplaces
  • Anyone who wants this knowledge in their workplace toolkit — before they need it

You don't need to have lived through loss to belong in this conversation. In fact, that's the point.

No prior specialist knowledge is required to attend.

We hope you'll join us for this important conversation and take away practical understanding that you can carry with you — whether for yourself, your colleagues, your teams or your wider organisation.
